I believe that being recruited by an internationally recognized firm is the desire of every fresh graduate. That is why I was so delighted when I was successful in securing a position in Arup’s Graduate Program a few years ago.
Being involved in big and challenging projects was always something that attracted me to join Arup. I started my career at Arup by getting involved in the design for DTL3 underground stations project. DTL3 is one of Arup’s major projects in Singapore. It consisted of 5 underground stations and few kilometers of tunnel that required deep excavation in soft soil. Currently, I am designing the Singapore SportsHub Aquatic Center. This is a huge Olympic size water sports complex with 69 meter span of steel truss above the building. I cannot wait to see my design being built for SEA Games 2015. I believe it will be something that I will be proud of.
One of the benefits of working at Arup is the culture, which is supportive in developing graduate skills and knowledge through both internal and external training. Also, it is such a pleasure to work with the senior members of staff who are willing to guide and advise me through their distinctive experiences. Last but not least, Arup promotes work life balance by offering many sports and recreational activities to get involved in. These activities have been good opportunities for me to socialize with colleagues from other departments which I rarely meet on a daily basis.
Working in Arup has been a pleasant journey!
Together, we shape a better world.
