About Arup
We've come a long way
Starting up can be exciting, challenging and also a little bit scary. But once you choose the right path, there are no limits to what you can achieve and where you can go.
From day one you’ll see that the Arup environment is unlike any other. Inspired to continue our founding legacy, we’ll make sure that the work you do is both rewarding and interesting. To develop you as a leader, you’ll be empowered and encouraged to contribute your ideas from get go. So expect to be involved in some of the most challenging and iconic projects. Expect to be valued for your commitment. Expect to grow in a more rewarding career.
Now that you know where you’ll be going, take a look at where we’ve come from.
Our story began in 1946 with our founder and forward thinking philosopher and engineer. He initiated a legacy with his consulting engineering business in London based on the philosophy of superior quality work in harmony with the environment. Collaborating with leading avant-garde architects, the business grew rapidly and earned a reputation for its innovative and sustainable building solutions. More than 60 years later, we’ve become an international multidisciplary consulting firm that continues to enjoy the same reputation with our iconic projects like the Sydney Opera House, The Marina Bay Sands ® Integrated Resort in Singapore, Beijing’s Water Cube, Bird’s Nest and the AAMI Park Stadium to name but a few.
Being forward thinking, our scope involves more than buildings and infrastructure. We’ve worked with car manufacturers on the design of the SuperLight car, which uses less energy than petrol cars. We’ve developed a business continuity and resilience practice and security management tools that are now used globally. And we’ve invented a range of global proprietary computer modeling tools as well as SoundLab®, an aural-realisation tool with which our clients can hear how different design options perform acoustically – before they’re actually built. Now that’s forward thinking!
Our imagination, creativity and passion in every project has resulted in our unique portfolio of well over 10 000 projects in more than 37 countries. Comprising three main global business areas - Buildings, Infrastructure and Consulting - our multidisciplinary approach means that any given project may involve any or all of these practices.
Yes, we’ve come a long way, but true to Arup values, we’ll always recognise the people who have made us who we are- our people who help us shape a better world.
More experts. More passion for what they do. More innovative thinking. More commitment to sustaining our environment. And now we’re looking for more people like them to join us- people like you.
And all this is only the beginning.
